Website Design & Dev

Web design is the process of creating websites. It encompasses several different aspects, including webpage layout, content production, and graphic design. While the terms web design and web development are often used interchangeably, web design is technically a subset of the broader category of web development.

Web development broadly refers to the tasks associated with developing websites for hosting via intranet or internet. The web development process includes web design, web content development, client-side/server-side scripting and network security configuration, among other tasks.

I am a professional designer/developer in the fields of web, media, software and print with over 20 years of on-the-job experience. For the past year and a half I have worked as a self employed freelance contractor doing business as Double Five Designs. Previously, I worked as the UX/UI designer for InnoCentive Inc. where my responsibilities included handling the development of state-of-the-art responsive websites, professional graphic imagery and enriched social media campaigns for a variety of clients and a plethora of fields. A core strength is my ability to autonomously perform any portion or the entire website production lifecycle from concept to maintenance and all steps in between. I have also been a key member of the development team during my time at InnoCentive from contractor, to employee and eventually team lead. I also bring to the table strong computer expertise in Drupal, WordPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Office, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS3 and PHP. All of these skills are instrumental tools for a web developer.

The examples here feature a variety of website projects where I was greatly involved in the entire lifecycle of the design and development process.
